Zanesville Post 29 Senior Legion split a doubleheader with Post 159 Senior

In game one against Post 159, the visitors took the first run of the game in the top of the third inning, 1 – 0. They compounded their lead at the top of the sixth inning with a four-run rally, 5 – 0. Zanesville was only able to fight back with one run in the bottom of the seventh after Post 159 added two more in the top of the inning, and they dropped game one 7 – 1. 

Zanesville was the scoring starters as they grabbed a run in the bottom of the second inning when McBride scored on a passed ball, 1 – 0. In the bottom of the fourth, Zanesville’s Butcher grounded out to score Norris, 2 – 0. Murray followed by stealing home for the third run, 3 – 0. Post 159 tried to answer back, but only got one run in the next inning to trail, 3 – 1. Murray hit a sacrifice fly to score Norris in the bottom of the sixth, 4 – 1. Despite trying to catch up to the top of the seventh, Post 159 only gained one more run, and fell to Zanesville 4 – 2 in game two to split the pair. 

The Post 29 Senior Legion will face Cambridge/Belle Valley Post 84/641 on Monday, June 15th, at 5:30 PM for a doubleheader.

Vs. Cambridge/Belle Valley Post 84/641 doubleheader (6/9)

Zanesville started game one of a pair against Cambridge/Belle Valley on Tuesday on the road with a run. Cambridge came back with nine runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to lead 9 – 1 after one. Adding three runs in each of the next two innings, Cambridge led 15 – 1 after three innings, and despite grabbing a run at the top of the next inning, Zanesville was overcome 15 – 2 by their hosts in game one.

In game two, Cambridge landed a run to open scoring in the bottom of the second inning after holding Zanesville without a run, 1 – 0. They added three more runs in the next inning, 4 – 0. Zanesville’s T Hague stole home base in the top of the fourth for the only run of their game, before Cambridge added six runs in the bottom of the fifth to seal the deal and take game two 10 – 1 for the sweep.
