West Muskingum softball locks in a win against Meadowbrook to start season 3 – 1 overall

Vs. Meadowbrook (3/31)

The Colts made the trip to West Muskingum on Tuesday to face the Lady Tornadoes. Meadowbrook hit the board first with a 1 – 0 lead at the top of the first inning. West didn’t hesitate to answer back with a four-run bottom of the first contributed to by a trio of doubles, one from Gabbi Hammer, followed by another double from Kyana Bowers, following a ground out, Calie Smith doubled. The Tornadoes added two more runs in the bottom of the second to increase the lead to 6 – 1. The Colts rallied for six runs in the top of the third inning to regain the lead at 7 – 6. After two stalled innings, West tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning and grabbed the walk-off go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh to win 8 – 7.

The Lady Tornadoes will hit the road on Saturday to head to Sugarcreek, where they will face the Garaway Pirates. Game time is set for 12 PM. West will be back on their home field on Monday, April 6th, with a matchup against the Coshocton Redskins, set to start at 5 PM.

Vs. Meadowbrook (3/30)

Monday’s trip to Byesville for the Lil’ Muskies led to two scoreless innings to start the game, followed by the Colts taking a 1 – 0 lead at the end of the third inning. Bowers singled in the top of the fourth, bringing in Peyton Brown to tie the game at 1 – 1. The Colts landed a run in the bottom of the sixth to lock in the 2 – 1 win.

Vs. Morgan (3/26)

The Raiders traveled to West Muskingum on Thursday to take on the Tornadoes. Morgan landed two runs right out of the gate to lead 2 – 0, and they added one in the top of the third to increase their lead before the Tornadoes put together a four-run rally that included a double by Hammer to take the lead 4 – 3. Morgan pulled out two home runs from Rush and Maxwell to jump out to a 7 – 4 lead at the top of the fourth. West responded with the tying runs in the bottom of the inning to end the fourth at 7 – 7. Morgan landed an eighth run in the top of the sixth inning, but West wasn’t finished as Hammer stepped up for a two-run homer to take the 9 – 8 win over the Raiders.
