Vs. Washington and Jefferson (3/31)
On Tuesday at Mose Moorehead Field in New Concord, the Fighting Muskies jumped out to an early 4 – 0 lead over Washington and Jefferson. They added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings with a run in each to take the game 7 – 0.
The game was the second shutout of the season for Muskingum. The Muskies had 32 at-bats, seven runs, 12 hits, and four RBIs. Sophomore Lex Castaneda pitched five scoreless innings, allowing six hits, and landed five strikeouts.
The next home game for the Fighting Muskies will be Saturday, April 11th at 1 PM.
Vs. Bethany (3/29)
Muskingum University hosted the Bisons on Sunday afternoon. Right out of the gate, the Muskies roared into action as they put seven runs on the board at the end of the first inning. Over the next five innings, Muskingum amassed 23 total runs on 18 hits with seven doubles in the mix, which was a season high. The Bisons only managed two total runs in the game, giving the Muskies the 23 – 2 victory.
Junior Conner Thamann led the Muskies with three hits on four at-bats, including a three-run home run. Juniors Aiden Reis and Grant Mellerson each had three hits, adding six runs collectively for the Muskies.
Vs. Dennison (3/26)
Muskingum played top-ranked Dennison University Thursday night at Big Red Field in Granville. Dennison put the first two runs up to set the tone of the game as they scored in every inning but the second to defeat the Muskies 17 – 7.
Junior Aiden Reis led the Muskies’ offense with three hits, finishing 3-for-4 at the plate. Classmate Grant Mellerson went 3-for-4 as well, scoring two runs.
Vs. Pitt.- Greensburg (3/24)
The Muskies defeated the Bobcats in a close matchup that ended 6 – 5 in favor of Muskingum, with the two teams tied at 3 in the fifth inning. The Bobcats jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the sixth inning before the Muskies wrapped up a two-run bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game and take the winning run.
Freshman Tyler Mastro led the Muskies with three hits and an RBI on four at-bats. Senior Sam Palmieri had three RBIs, including a two-run double in the third inning. Freshman Josh Beavon had two hits on four at-bats and an RBI.
