Zanesville Community Theatre presents Agatha Christie’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’

The second weekend of shows for Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, presented by the Zanesville Community Theatre (ZCT), will run from May 29 through May 31. Showtimes are 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 PM on Friday and Sunday.

The synopsis described in the show’s program reads: Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by morning, it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again.

The cast includes Deric Dove (Hercule Poirot), Stephen David Wolverton (Monsieur Bouc), Andie McFadden (Mary Debenham), Vince Vaughn (Hector MacQueen), Adam Schreiner (Michel the Conductor/Waiter), Amy P. Underwood (Princess Dragomiroff), Nikki Anderson (Greta Ohlsson), Reagan Dygert (Countess Andrenyi), Jillian B. Von Gunten (Helen Hubbard), Shelby Stotts (Colonel Arbuthnot), Scott Robison (Samuel Ratchett), and Gemma Anderson (Daisy Armstrong – Voice).

Members of the production team are Cary Stotts (director), Haley Shaw (assistant director), Shelby Stotts (producer), Sarah Gantzer (stage manager), Steven Hendershott (sound design), Cary Stotts and Haley Shaw (lighting design), Shelby Stotts and Cast (set construction), Jan Kiikka and Cast (costuming), Friends of ZCT (box office and ushers), and Daegan Lusk (photography).

“It has been such a pleasure to bring this classic story to life with this wonderful group of people. I’ve always had a love for Agatha Christie, and one of my favorite parts of directing this show has been the deep character discussion among the cast,” said director Cary Stotts. “I am grateful for all the hard work that has gone into every aspect of this show.”

The next ZCT production will be Mean Girls, opening on July 23.

ZCT is located at 940 Findley Avenue, Zanesville. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $5 for students 12 and younger. For more information and for tickets, visit www.zct.org.
