Junior Pioneers stay on top of overall record 9 – 8 after taking down the Bisons

Vs. Turn2 Blue Jays (7/7)

The Junior Pioneers hosted the Turn2 Blue Jays on Tuesday at Gant Stadium. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead after gaining a run in the top of each of the first two innings. The Pioneers tied up the game in the bottom of the third with two runs, 2 – 2. In the top of the fifth inning, the Blue Jays pushed out three runs to take back the lead, 5 – 2. Despite grabbing a run in the bottom of the sixth, the Jr Pioneers couldn’t match the visitors and fell 5 – 4.

Vs. Ohio Bison 18O (7/1)

On Wednesday in Newark, the Junior Pioneers took on the Bison. The first three innings fell blank as the two defenses held up to the pressure, but the Pioneers grabbed a run in the top of the fourth inning off of a single by Jake Ralph that drove in Caleb Campbell to lead 1 – 0. After three quick outs dealt from Ansel and the Pioneers’ offense, a double in the top of the fifth from Campbell drove in Brody Hammersley and Brady Ventura, 3 – 0, followed by another double from Ralph that drove in Jake Valentine and Campbell to lead 5 – 0. The Bison came back for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, but that was as far as they made it, and the Junior Pioneers took the 5 – 3 win. 

The Junior Pioneers will host the Olentangy Baseball Club Collegiate on Saturday, July 11th at 12 PM at Gant Stadium in Zanesville. 

Vs. Turn2 Blue Jays (6/30)

In Hilliard on Tuesday, the Junior Pioneers started things off with a 1 – 0 lead off a single by Ralph that brought home Campbell. The Blue Jays had two singles in the bottom of the inning that put them on top 2 – 1. Hammersley scored on an error in the top of the second to tie the game, 2 – 2. Turn2 popped out three runs in the bottom of the third and one more in the bottom of the sixth to take over the game for a 6 – 2 win after seven innings.
