Blue Devils baseball broke even on the season so far at 2 – 2

Vs. West Muskingum (3/31)

Just up the road from Zanesville High School, the Blue Devils headed to West Muskingum to play the Tornadoes. The first two innings of the game were scoreless for both teams. The Blue Devils opened scoring at the top of the third with four runs, followed by a run in the top of the fourth inning to lead 5 – 0. West added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but Zanesville answered back in the sixth with two more runs to increase their lead to 7 – 1. With a four-run top of the seventh inning, the Blue Devils increased their score to 11, and although the Tornadoes scored a run in the bottom of the inning, it was not enough to avoid the 11 – 2 loss to the Blue Devils.

Zanesville will travel to Thornville on Friday to face the Sheridan Generals, with the game starting at 5 PM.

Vs. West Muskingum (3/30)

The Tornadoes came to visit the Blue Devils on Monday. West navigated the first two scoreless innings to open up the scoring in the third inning with four runs to lead 4 – 0, but not for long, as the Blue Devils nabbed two runs in the bottom of the inning to narrow the lead to 4 – 2. The Tornadoes kept the momentum going in the top of the fourth, with five more runs, backed by two final runs in the top of the fifth to lead 11 – 2. Despite many attempts, Zanesville couldn’t make any more runs happen, and they went down after seven by a score of 11 – 2.

Vs. Ridgewood (3/28)

After wet weather made Zanesville change plans for Saturday’s game, they headed North to West Lafayette, where the Blue Devils were going to face the Ridgewood Generals. Ridgewood shut out the Devils while pumping out a run in the bottom of the second inning, followed by two in the fourth inning, and three final runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win the matchup 6 – 0. 

Vs. Cambridge (3/26)

Zanesville traveled to play in Don Coss Stadium on Thursday in Cambridge. The Devils started out strong, with a score by Tyson Kimble on a catcher’s error, followed by a single hit by Mahki  Murray to drive in S Norris, and two runs scored on a fly out by Karter Burrell. Zanesville scored two more runs in the top of the fourth to lead the game 8 – 4. The Final score in favor of the Blue Devils was 10 – 5.
