Vs. Sheridan (4/15)
The Electrics hosted the Generals on Tuesday in Duncan Falls. After Wyatt Tysinger fired through four batters to clear the top of the 1st inning, it was batter-up for Josh Gooden, who singled to right field only to be brought home by a triple from Garrett Tom in the next at-bat to give Philo a quick 1 – 0 lead. Tom scored on a passed ball, followed by Ky-Mani Phillip scoring on a wild pitch to jump the lead to 3. Lincicome scored on an error, and Masen Runkle grabbed the final run of the inning off of a fielder’s choice hit by Clayton Colborn to end the inning up 5 – 0. Sheridan hit the scoreboard in the top of the 2nd inning, picking up three runs off of an error to narrow the lead to Electrics 5 – Generals 3. Gooden homered to right field in the first at-bat of the bottom of the 2nd. Runkle landed an RBI by driving in Tom on a single to center to end the scoring for the inning, up 7 – 3. In the bottom of the 3rd, Colborn scored on a wild pitch, and Lincicome drove home Tom. Lincicome was in turn allowed to score off of an error to notch the score up to 10 – 3, Electrics. Tom singled in the 4th to bring in Colborn, and Gooden crossed the plate thanks to a single by Phillip. Tom scored on an error in the next at-bat, pushing the Electrics out to a 13 – 3 lead after four innings. The Generals managed a three-run rally in the top of the 5th, knocking down Philos’ lead to 13 – 6. Sheridan came back to six big runs in the top of the 7th inning, but they were not able to eclipse the Electrics, and Philo took the 13 – 11 MVL win.
Vs. New Lexington (4/11)
The New Lexington Panthers traveled to Duncan Falls on Friday to play the Electrics. After two strikeouts and a ground out, Foster completed his first inning on the mound successfully, allowing the batting order to start up. Tom scored on a wild pitch, followed by Lincicome doubling to bring in Phillp for a 2 – 0 lead. The lead held until the top of the 5th inning when New Lex tied up the game and jumped out ahead to a 4 – 2 lead. The Electrics answered back in the bottom of the 5th inning with a single from Phillip to bring in Tom, followed by a double from Runkle that brought in Phillip for the tie and Roush for the go-ahead run to take back the lead at 5 – 4. The Electrics added one more run in the bottom of the 6th while holding off the Panther offense to take a 6 – 4 victory.
The two wins were a great reward to the week that started with double losses to Tri-Valley. Philo is currently 2 – 6 on the season and will play on Saturday when they host Cambridge, game time is set for 11 AM.
