Muskingum County wrestlers finish seasons on a high note

Blue Devil standout wrestler Trio Ladd wrestled against Sheridan early this season.

Zanesville Wrestling 

Blue Devil wrestler Trio Ladd ended his junior season in the Division II state tournament with an 8th-place podium finish, breaking the single-season win record at 52 – 9. He is only the second LCL champion for Zanesville High School, the eighth state qualifier, and the very first state placer for Zanesville.

Maysville Wrestling

The Panthers had four wrestlers qualify for the state tournament this year: Carter Abella, Presley Sandobal, Audrey Crooks, and Sophie Dennis. 

Carter Abella placed fourth in the state competition, Presley Sandobal also placed fourth, and Audrey Crooks took seventh place.

Tri-Valley Wrestling 

Out of the three Tri-Valley Scotties that qualified for state competition this year, senior Kandice Spry finished her TV wrestling career with a third-place finish in the 115lb weight class, three state placements, and one state finalist finish as her record. 

Logan McClellan finished sixth this year in state and ends his Scottie career as a three-time state qualifier and two-time placer.

Aedin Seward stopped just shy of a placement in state as he wraps up his Tri-Valley career.

Philo Wrestling

The Philo wrestling team had six wrestlers qualify for District competition, including: Seniors Dakota Kinney, Ryan South, Gibson Swartz, and Griffin Swartz. Junior Robert Dorsey and Freshman Jared Robinson.

John Glenn Wrestling

Dominic Bates competed for the Lil’ Muskies at state this year, finishing in 7th place in the 175lb weight class.
