Tri-Valley softball postseason comes to a close against Jonathon Alder

Vs. Jonathan Alder (5/28)

The Scotties met up with the Pioneers on Thursday for the Regional Semi-final game. Jonathan Alder jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead at the end of the first inning, but Tri-Valley answered back in the top of the second inning, tying up the game and grabbing the go-ahead run to lead 4 – 3. In the bottom of the third inning, the Pioneers tied the game and took back the lead with four runs to take a 7 – 4 advantage. Holding the Scotties scoreless for the remainder of the game, the Pioneers added four more runs to their tally to win the game 11 – 4, ending Tri-Valley’s postseason run.

Vs. Unioto (5/23)

On the road Saturday, the Shermans jumped out to a 1 – 0 lead after the first inning, before the Scotties answered back with the tying run in the top of the second, 1 – 1. Tri-Valley went on to add a run in each of the next two innings to lead 3 – 1. Unioto was quick to even the score with two runs in the bottom of the inning, 3 – 3. The Lady Dawgs stepped up their efforts in the top of the fifth inning, rallying for four runs, followed by three more in the top of the sixth to lead 10 – 3. The Shermans tried to mount a comeback, but they fell to the Scotties 11 – 5 to grab the Division III Southeast / East 2 District Title.

Vs. Steubenville (5/13)

Face to face with the Big Red on Wednesday in Steubenville, the Scotties grabbed a run to start off the scoring, 1 – 0, but the Red answered back with two runs to lead, 2 – 1. The second inning was marked by the Big Red adding a run to their advantage, 3 – 1. The Lady Dawgs fought back in the top of the third inning to earn three runs to break back into the lead, 4 – 3. The Scotties added three more runs in the top of the fourth to increase their total to 7 – 3. The Big Red added two final runs to their total in the bottom of the inning, but they still trailed 7 – 5. Tri-Valley pitching locked in the advantage, and they tacked on two runs to win the game 9 – 5.
