Visit Zanesville’s inaugural Y-Bridge Irish Dash event held downtown

Runners set off on the first ever Irish Run 5K in Zanesville.

The much-anticipated Y-Bridge Irish Dash debuted on March 14, 2026, in front of Muddy Miser’s with a strong turnout of around 300 participants who signed up for either the timed 5K run or the 1-mile fun run/walk. The event brought two out-of-state visitors and over 100 from outside the county. Visit Zanesville-Muskingum County hosted the event, which was timed by Muskingum Multisports.

The St. Patrick’s Day-themed event brought runners through downtown Zanesville, introducing the famous Y-Bridge to all who came from out of town. Green beer was available after the race for those 21 and older. Awards were presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K race.

For the men, the top three finishers were Scott Davies (54) of Logan, with a finish time of 19:40.9; Josh Martin (29) of Columbus, with his time of 20:11.1; and Matthew Sturgill (29) of Zanesville, who clocked in at 20:50.9.

The women showed up to compete with three top ten placements overall. The top three finishers for the women were Paige Long (29) of Zanesville, who put up a time of 21:31.7 (6th place overall); Kirstyn Moyers (30) of Lockbourne, with her time of 21:44.7 (7th place overall); and Callie Hansgen (29) of Zanesville, who crossed the finish line with a time of 22:28.0 (10th place overall).

Although the 29-year-olds nearly dominated in both groups, some impressive times were also earned by runners Marshall Flynn (25 – Columbus – 4th place overall), Coen Fink (20 – Zanesville – 5th place overall), Ryan Long (28 – Zanesville – 8th place overall), and Steven Greene (24 – Columbus – 9th place overall).

The youngest 5K participant was 5-year-old T. Morris from Cambridge, and the oldest was 78-year-old Joe Schaumleffel.

Proceeds from the event go towards the betterment of seasonal events in Muskingum County, including those that support local businesses and downtown Zanesville.

Sponsors for the event included Advanced Heating and Cooling Services Inc., Genesis Healthcare System, Advanced Electric Services, Dutro Downtown Zanesville, APG Architects, CarNation Auto Sales, North Valley Bank, and Valerie Ann’s Boutique.
