John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium hosted the game between the Zanesville Blue Devils and the Louisville Leopards on Friday, August 25th.
The game did not go quite as planned for Zanesville as the Leopards opened up the scoring with a successful field goal with just five minutes left to go in the first quarter of play, hitting the scoreboard with a 3 – 0 lead that they held throughout the rest of the period.
With just a minute left in the second quarter Louisville completed a pass that brought them over the goal line and with the extra point pushed their lead to 10 at halftime.
After halftime the Blue Devils continued to battle it out with Louisville but with four minutes to go in the third quarter the Leopards landed a pass that would get them to the endzone and after the extra point they were up 17 – 0.

Louisville wrapped up the game in the fourth quarter. With nine minutes to go in the game the Leopards grabbed a safety adding two points to their score making the total 19 – 0. Just a few minutes later they lined themselves up for a field goal to cap their scoring and end the game up 22 – 0 against the Blue Devils.
On the road against St. Clairsville, unfortunately Zanesville did not have much better luck when walking away with a 48 – 7 loss.
The Blue Devils next game will be at home against non-conference foes the Lakewood Lancers. Kickoff starts at 7pm.
