Home Show in Colony Square Mall builds connections between home-related businesses and potential clients

Home show in the Colony Square Mall

Businesses, big and small, offering home-related services filled the common space in Colony Square Mall during the annual Home Show, which was held February 27 through March 1. The show connected around 25 businesses with prospective clients.

“I hope that guests who attended the Home Show made new connections and found helpful information they needed while researching home-related projects and issues, and that they had an enjoyable time doing so. In the same regard, I hope that the participating businesses were successful in meeting new customers and connecting with the community,” said Jessica Brailer, Colony Square Mall general manager.

The list of participating businesses included Ables, Inc., Key Roofing, Higgins Lumber Company, AG Home Services, Bath Fitter, Roto Rooter, Sherwin-Williams, Leaf Filter, Fello Electric, The Zemba Companies, Sit Means Sit, Town & Country Realty, Lepi & Associates, Nutter Home Improvement, ImproveIt Home Remodeling, Brown Security, Town & Country Realtors, Mutt Commanders, Leaf Home Bath, Huddy’s Home Improvement, Weed Rite Fence, Balloons + Blooms, Lashley Tractor Sales, Down Home Lawn Furniture, Reactiv8 Shingle Rejuvenation, Grassroots Hydroseeding & Property Services, A. Yoder Roofing, Buckeye Power Sales, Motto Mortgage, and J & M Construction.

Representing AG Home Services out of Frazeysburg were owners Alex and Katie Gordon. This was the business’s third year at the show.

“We get to be face-to-face with clients, and it’s great. They can meet me before I ever show up at their home, so everyone’s guard is down. We can just sit here and chat, and they can get to know me, I can get to know them,” said Alex.

Builders D.R. Horton were set up alongside Lepi & Associates, with whom they have partnered to bring a new housing development that is currently being built on the northern end of Zanesville.

“We’re America’s Most Affordable Builder,” stated Sophia Crawford, a junior assistant to agent Christy Renolds. “We have about 22 communities throughout central Ohio. We are here to support the new Zanesville community. There will be just under 90 homes at that home site, ranches, some with basements. There’s about just under ten different floor plans that you can choose from.”

Dog training business Sit Means Sit also displayed for the third year at the Home Show.

“I think the turnout has been wonderful this year. We’ve had a lot of interest in our business, and we’ve also been watching the other booths, and we’ve seen a lot of buzzing going on at the other booths. So, really happy that we did it this year,” said owner Erica Foster.

Higgins Lumber Company, which has two locations in Muskingum County, one in Roseville and one in Zanesville, has been participating in the Home Show for two years.

“We ran a pole barn special, a 24 by 24 pole barn that’s installed for $10,500, and we’ve had about 26 people that are signed up for that. So, it’s been really, really good,” said Tom Piecynski. “We’ve had quite a bit of interest in our composite decking.”

Ables Heating and Cooling has been attending the show for roughly 15 years.

“We do heating and cooling, and we are a full-blown electrical contractor. So, if you have any heating and cooling needs, you know, we can, or electric needs, we can help you out,” said Justin Stoolfire, a HVAC Project Manager for the company. “There’s a lot of people coming by, even for having mild weather outside, there’s still a lot of people coming by. And it’s been great talking to people and making some connections.”

Donnie and Jessica Nutter were at the home show to promote their business, Nutter Home Improvement. This was their first year at the show, but they plan to come back next year as well.

The business started in 2021, offering whole-house residential renovation work, and has recently expanded to new construction. “[This is] our first time [at the home show]. We’ve got, I think, like five or six solid leads this week, stated Donnie.
