‘Radium Girls’ opens at The Renner Theatre April 24

The Zane Trace Players will be presenting Radium Girls at The Renner Theatre, 148 N. 7th Street, Zanesville. Show times are 7:30 p.m. April 24, 25, May 1, and May 2; and at 2:30 p.m. on April 26, and May 3.

Radium Girls is a historical drama based on the true story of young women who worked in watch factories in the 1920s, painting watch dials with radium-based glow-in-the-dark paint. Unaware of the dangers, the workers ingested the toxic substance, leading to severe illness and death.

The play follows one worker, Grace Fryer, as she and others begin to realize the harm being done to them. Despite resistance from the company and its lawyers, Grace fights for justice, helping to expose the truth about radium poisoning. The story highlights themes of corporate responsibility, workers’ rights, and the pursuit of justice, showing how ordinary people can challenge powerful institutions.

This D.W. Gregory production is being directed by Rich Tolliver with the assistance of Autumn Wheeler. Other members of the production crew are Addy Weck, Nate Kearns, Jessica Cunningham, and Shelley Tolliver.

Tickets are on sale now: $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and students (12 and over), $8 for children under 12. Visit zanetraceplayers.ludus.com to secure your seats or purchase tickets at the door the day of the show.
